An update to my earlier post on the fate of the poor dogs from Michael Vick's "
Bad Newz Kennels":
ESPN
is reporting that 47 remaining pit bulls from
Michael Vick's dogfighting operation were officially recommended by federal prosecutors for placement with rescue organizations. The dogs will be placed with eight organizations, including
Best Friends Animal Society in Utah and the
Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit Bulls in California.
Kudos to the government for being open-minded about the dogs' potential for rehabilitation, and to Rebecca J. Huss, the dogs' guardian, for making it happen.
